A new environment, modern technology and better working conditions for staff. Following a complete renovation, the day surgery operating theatres at Jihlava Hospital are back in full operation. Four operating theatres, including the bronchoscopy theatre, have been transformed. New ceiling pendants with medical gas supply, modern video management and other technical equipment have been installed to make the work of healthcare staff easier and to provide patients with high-quality facilities for their treatment.

The day surgery operating theatres are used by patients of several specialties, mainly gynaecology, orthopaedics and urology, as well as surgery. The advantage of day surgery is that patients come in for a planned procedure and, if everything goes without complications, can return home the same day. Procedures include, for example, hysteroscopy, uterine curettage, ureteroscopy, removal of urinary stones, arthroscopy and shorter surgical procedures.
The renovation included a complete overhaul of the day surgery theatre facilities. It comprises new modular operating theatres, new ceiling pendants with medical gas supply, and modern information and technology features. The theatres are also equipped with a video management system, which allows efficient work with images from the surgical equipment and contributes to better organisation of the surgical team's work.
After 23 years, the day surgery operating theatres have undergone an extensive renovation. Not only the theatres themselves but also their technical and operational facilities, including the staff areas, have been completely renewed. The aim of the renovation was to create a modern, functional and pleasant environment that meets current technological and operational requirements and at the same time provides better working conditions for healthcare staff.
"The renovation has allowed us to bring the day surgery operating theatres up to today's technological standard. It is not just about the new look of the premises, but above all about a complete modernisation of their technical facilities. The new equipment will make our work easier and creates better conditions for patients and healthcare staff alike," says Mgr. Gabriela Chylíková, Head Nurse of the Central Operating Theatres.
A significant change is the new ceiling pendants, which supply medical gases and also allow technical equipment to be arranged more clearly right in the operating theatre. The modernisation also includes video management, new information panels and monitor arms. The renovation also covered the bronchoscopy theatre, which is part of the day surgery facilities and now likewise offers a modernised environment and new technical equipment. The new equipment for the operating theatres cost more than CZK 22 million excluding VAT.
The next stage of the operating theatre renovation is planned for next year, when work will move one floor up to the central operating theatres. "I would like to thank everyone who took part in the renovation, whether during the construction work or in keeping the department running and organised. Thanks to their commitment and cooperation, the work was completed without any major disruption," adds Ing. Zdeněk Krafka, Deputy Director for Operations and Technical Services. "The modernisation of the operating theatres is an important investment in the hospital's future. Surgical care is one of the areas where high-quality technical facilities are essential. I am glad that the first stage has been completed and that the new premises can already serve our staff and patients," adds Ing. Alexander Filip, Director of Jihlava Hospital.
