Information for marrow donors
The Hematology and Transfusion Unit (HTU) of the Hospital Jihlava functions as a recruitment centre for the Czech Hematopoietic Cell Donor Registry, which is based in Prague at the IKEM.
At HTU, the registration for the Czech Hematopoietic Cell Donor Registry is underway. If you meet the following conditions, you can contact our department to arrange an appointment. The whole procedure will take about 15 minutes, when we will take two tubes of blood, you will fill in a health questionnaire and we will have a short discussion with you. During this time you have the opportunity to ask anything you can think of.
Eligibility:
- Age 18-40 years (records in the registry database up to 55 years of age of the donor),
- willingness to help any patient not only from the Czech Republic but also from abroad,
- weight more than 50 kg,
- good health (no serious illness - not even in the past),
- without permanent medication and treatment (contraception is an exception),
- willingness to undergo blood tests and possible further examinations,
- willingness to give your time and comfort,
- health insurance valid in the Czech Republic.
Bone marrow donation is voluntary, free and anonymous!

We schedule bone marrow donors from Monday to Thursday from 10:00-11:30. However, it is possible to come on other days and times by appointment. If necessary, we will confirm a pass for your employer.
If you are also a blood donor, the best solution is to combine your blood donation with joining the register. In this case, however, it is also necessary to agree on this procedure in advance by contacting the email or number provided.
